The U.S. did get involved right away lending allies equipment/arms they needed to fight axis powers during the first years of the war. Without that equipment they wouldnt have lasted long.
French resistance? come on, who in the world did they rescue? They certainly wouldnt have defeated anyone on their own.
Considering France fell in about a month and a half (10 May – 25 June 1940), if the U.S. had not gotten involved, they’d be speaking German right now.

If I recall my history lessons, the United States chose to stay out of the second world war and only joined when it was attacked itself. The United States alone did not save anyone’s “butt”. It was a team effort made up of many nationalities. Are you forgetting the French resistance for example? The US has its own merits, but you are not the hero you think you are. Oh, for your information, we are separated by the Atlantic Ocean, not some perceived “pond”. An Ocean, deep and wide.

You could go on like this forever. Sure, french policy and american policy are really different. Americans would have started war immediately. But know what? hitler was Prepared for war, when french and brits were still dancing and partying!! It’s time for another history lesson. The French (and sadly the British in this situation) failed to stand up to Nazi Germany even in 1938 before the war. Hitler wanted to invade Czechoslovakia, in order to avoid war the French PM Édouard Daladier informed the Czech’s that they would stand alone if they didn’t cede territory to Germany. It’s called appeasement, the French are great at it. The U.S. had to save their butt twice inside of 50 years. Their wines and cuisine are great though.

demoniclord91367 how can you say French are ? Geez, your country sure wasn’t invaded twice!!! You never fought in the trenchs! And Japan isn’t a peaceful country thanks to you! You sent it right into chaos, and it’s because it has always been a proud and strong country that it was able to heal this quick. Study some “world history” before you speak! America’s history is very short and very subjective.

Apparently it’s time for a history lesson. The U.S. didnt enter the war until Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Then despite repeated attempts to induce surrender (which Japan refused preferring in most cases to fight to the last man) America had to make a decision of a costly invasion (project losses in the hundreds of thousands for both sides) vs. using those weapons. I don’t condone the use of atomic weapons but Japan wanted a war and they got it.
