I have an entry level separation from the national guard when I was 18 and heard that because of that I would never be able to get a "government job". Would this prevent me from getting a civil engineering job even if I had an engineering degree? I never even went to basic training and its not a dishonorable discharge just an entry level separation

I doubt that the government would turn you down for an ELS. You can see the military and make your own call at;

An ELS is nothing to worry about. My wife got one for breaking her ankle at BCT. The only hold up I know of is if you try to join the military again, you will need a waiver.
