If he is offering $8 an hour, you have to remember that he is running a practice and so he has a ton of overhead to pay including buying all of his own supplies, and paying bills, also he must pay his other staff, and he must take home his hard earned money as well. You could try negotiating, but you have to understand the situation he is in. If he is offering less money, maybe find another dentist who offers more.

It would not be proper to negotiate if you really want the job. It is very low if you are trained or experienced and it would be an insult if it were I. But make sure you have other options before you politely tell Dr. Tightwad to shove his job. Good luck.
