this website has many different job opportunities. You still need to watch for people trying to scam, but the website does a really good job at weeding those people out. Hope this helps.
i havent worked since 2001 i have been living off the other flats rent and i have 3 kids i make 15000 now i want to make 30000-45000 an month i dont care what district
The world has changed so much since 2001, I doubt if you’re competitive enough to find any job that you’d like, not to mention US$4-5,000 a month, while staying home all this time. I-F you’re Caucasian, you could try becoming an English tutor, many Hong Kong students or Chinese immigrants go to such classes. Otherwise another alternative that might give you a big financial reward is starting your own business, by this I mean including investing or even speculating on different markets which many Hong Kong people do. Of course if you could make money with your own investment, you could also lose as much or even more at the same time.
I have handed out cv’s in my local shopping centre but no-one has replied
I would really love a part time job as soon as possible but I have no idea where to look
Does anyone know a shop or whatever that would hire a 16 year old in manchester?
Thanks!
Im a 16 year old and live in Leeds. Its really hard to find a job isnt it? You could use JobCentre. Lots of Hairsalons have jobs going for teens such as washing hair, making cups of coffee and cleaning up hair on the floor. Maybe you could put an add in a local newpaper or hand out leaflets offering your services like car washing, walking dogs, handing out business flyers, cleaning windows. Old people especially might need odd jobs going. Good luck xx

How about putting up fliers or running an ad in your local paper? It also helps if you have experience and references for the jobs you are wanting to do.
I really need a job, I don’t know what I can expect from the interview. I have in a retail store and don’t know what to expect.
You can be expected to be asked certain basic questions such as what your availability is, do you have anything that might be a conflict with a manager trying to schedule you (ie: school activities, church activities, etc), what experience - if any - you have, etc. If asked why you left your last job (if you’ve worked before), don’t just say "I was laid off" (the manager will check) or "it was personal." The manager will check that too and when someone gives me this answer, it usually means they didn’t get along with the management, poor attendance, schedule wasn’t flexible, etc. You’ll also be asked questions like: What does customer service mean to you? Please don’t say, "to do whatever it takes to make the customer happy." EVERYONE says that and whenever I hear this, I just roll my eyes. That’s the lazy person’s answer. There’s alot involved in customer service such as, checking customers out quickly and accurately at register, maintaining the store and in a neat and shoppable fashion, getting all returns from the returns desk and fitting room back onto the sales floor quickly (they can’t buy it if its not on the floor), getting new merchandise to the sales floor quickly and in the right depts/sizes, etc. Another questions would be: how do you deal with an angry customer? Don’t just say, I’ll call a manager. Managers like employees who TRY to deal with situations like this (to a degree). Find out WHY the customer is unhappy…maybe its something simple like they can’t find something and you’re able to take them to the item. Or maybe they think a price is wrong and you can fix it or tell them why its right. Think the answer out…don’t just jump on the easy answers…employees really shouldn’t "call a manager" unless its something they can’t handle or in the extreme, if a customer just won’t listen to you/or is out of control. You’ll also be asked either at the interview or on the application for 3 references. Do NOT list all friends of yours. If I’m interviewing a 16 or 17 y.o. applicant and their references are all their bffs/family members/relatives, I’ll always call the applicant back and tell them I need either: a former employer, a teacher, a counselor, a coach, someone who knows them thru church/volunteer work, etc. If a former job is listed in work history, I will call one or more of the former employers whether you list them as a reference or not. I want to know what your former boss thinks of you, not what Aunt Mary thinks of you, and I want to know why you don’t work there anymore. Don’t think they can’t tell me…some choose not to tell, but most WILL give me the information I need. Even those who work for companies who have a policy of NOT giving out information, usually find a way to tell me the truth. For instance, one prior employer told me, the best I can tell you is: "our company has a policy not to discuss incidents like those concerning why ‘Jane’ no longer works here." It told me nothing specific, but it told me everything I needed to know (and the other mgr I spoke to laughed about how that employee thought the company policy would be a free ride for her to list anything she wanted as reason for leaving.) The best thing I can tell you is to THINK your answers out, don’t jump for the quick and easy answer, have good references that an employer will consider relevant and look presentable (I will not hire anyone who comes in dressed in shorts, low cut shirts, ripped pants, flip flops, etc. because if they feel its okay to look like this while trying to make a good impression, what the heck will they try to wear if they get the job?) There’s alot of applicants out there, even for minimum wage jobs these days, and you have to stand out to stand a chance. Good luck.
I just applied for a job yesterday by fax. The company did not leave there contact information to follow up. I am really interested in the job can I fax my resume again or would that be annoying to the employer….. Please advise…
Thanks
Wait 3 or 4 days and compose another letter to send as a cover to your references. State in this letter how excited you are about the company and that you will call back in a couple days to make sure they have your info.
Please don’t re-send your resume. I cannot tell you how irritating it is to receive the same resume over and over again. I wouldn’t even call people that sent their resume over and over. If someone is that irritating before you hire them, they would be hell after the hire too.
Good luck
I’m an AP/honors student (high 3.5 gpa)
should i tutor some middle school kids if they need it?
and what should i charge?
i’m strong at every topic, even though i love science, i can never explain it well enough..
i want to do this just for fun and also I want to make some money of my own than rather take it from my mom.
Also I want to keep my mind off some personal issues….
Any tips? I won’t be able to drive ALONE until i get my full license in mid august. Also I’m gonna prepare for the SAT because I didn’t break a 2200 the first time (thats my goal)
You already know the subjects that are taught to Middle School students so that is your foundation for "what" to tutor, if in fact, as you alluded to, "IF" they need to be tutored, especially in the summer. There might be some summer school students, and if so, you might find out what subjects they are taking in summer school and that would be your best bet for topics and also give you a target market. As for a fee, that normally depends on demand and location. I would say conservatively that you can ask for USD$10 for half hour segments and maybe even get $15 depending on the subject.
Check with the school to see what summer school classes they offer and then see if there are any "needy" students with money to spare for tutoring. Good luck.
