I graduated from a secretarial course with a certificate 8 years ago, and still can’t get out of data entry and get an administrative assistant job. I am very proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook…PCs and Mac Computers, some accounting and payroll, excellent organizational skills, reliability, trustworthiness and high ethics (handling cash or account information), typing around 50 WPM, and 2 associates degrees. How do I get employers to see that I am overqualified for data entry, and perfectly suited for administrative assistant jobs?

First of all get a typing program for your computer to get your typing speed up. 50 is OK but not good enough these days. Then get some one to help you type a good resume, they will help you with this at your local unemployment office. Then start networking every where you go. Most jobs are got by networking!

I’ve been searching for these home-based data entry jobs for some time now. But I can’t seriously trust their sites right away especially because they ask money as a sign up fee. That alone just gives me the idea that they are scams. Where can i find them? FREE and would surely earn me some cash. Please and thank you!

There are so many websites that I’m not sure who is reputable and who is not. I’m wanting some extra cash, and possibly to make a career out of this, so I want to make sure the place isn’t a scam or anything. If I do a search for at-home data entry jobs, so many results come back that I’m not sure who to use.

Can’t say much whether it works or not but from my experience I have seen so many people regret wasting a lot of money online yet still can’t earn any money online. and the one that has made money online from my observation has been online for a long time before ever make good money and most of them are already somebody in the offline world. The had full time job before but couldn’t stand to work 9-5 jobs anymore so they tried to find something online.

Basically I can say if you want to earn money online you need to have some of kind of expertise and credibility because I also found that most people buy from people they trust. and even more so now than before. credibility and trustworthy is very critical online. just take a look at you. how long would you take to make the decision to make a purchase? Do you really believe strangers giving you some answer to your questions right away.

Most people don’t even realise this. they took time to make a purchase but when they sell something they expect people to buy from them the first time those people came across their website. so please understand the reality of internet first and you will know how to make online. and it would be a little bit easier if you really have the desire. hope that helps a bit.

I have tried so much but they demand money to register. My one of friend paid money to register and also got some work, but after completing that work he did not get payment. They were fake, so i suggest you do not try internet, If you want to work from home then contact to your friends and friends of friend and try to get some offline or online data entry work from trusted person to whom you can contact face to face. And also i suggest you to do not give money to register. Tell them deduct your registration fees from your earning. Your best bet is to look for local companies in your area that may need an extra set of hands to do some light office work, billing, etc.

Again, these jobs are not falling out of the sky and will require you to get your name out with folks and network, network, network. This type of work is typically found by word of mouth and takes some time to develop but it’s not impossible.

We have a part time office manager (2 hours per day) that helps my wife manage her contact list, make follow-up phone calls, send out reminder emails and some other light data entry. Most of the work she does is from her home (she does swing by weekly to pick up some invoices etc.) and we found her through a close friend. She has 4 or 5 companies that she does similar work for in the area and like you she has young children at home.

The online stuff is pretty much a pipe dream. The companies that advertise it want you to buy a list of companies that are "looking" for people to do the work. The issue is that most of these companies either a) don’t exist or b) have no interest in offering that kind of work. Don’t waste your money.

Start talking to people in your area, are there businesses you frequent that may need a service such as this? Even if they don’t they may know someone who does. You may even want to spend a few $$$ to advertise in a local paper. Also, don’t forget to call over to your local Chamber of Commerce to see what they may have to offer.
