Clerical jobs for a minor?
I’m done with High School, I finished my vocational trade in Business Tech last year, and right now I’m studying Accounting. I’m 17 years old.
My family has been a bit short on cash lately, so I’m looking to get a job to help out. I’ve been going to employment agencies, applying for jobs on jobing.com, monster.com, newspaper ads and such but most of the time I get the same response.
That they would hire me, but I’m too young and the company’s policy is to not hire anybody under 18. I’m wondering, is my job search for a good clerical job (what I’ve been studying for on over two years) useless this year? Or is there some hope?
I’m very good at what I do (or so my teachers tell me ;P) and I would really want to expand my posibilities at that, but it seems like the only jobs I’d be able to get are at McDonald’s.
I know it’s selfish to not want to work in there, but I was really excited about working at that, and it seems I can’t. Can I? Or are ALL clerical jobs restricted to minors?
There are several people in my organization who are only 17, and are making more than $100 a day. Everything is done on the internet, and no-one asks your age.
This is something you could get started now, and would continue to be a suppliment to your main career indefinitely. It could even replace your day job in the future and help you to retire really really early!
